TORONTO (CP) - Penalty shootouts, no-touch icing and streamlining goalie equipment were among 10 recommendations to come out of a two-day hockey summit organized by Detroit Red Wings star Brendan Shanahan.
The underlying message of the state-of-the-game meeting was simple: players, coaches and on-ice officials want an equal say in the NHL's rulemaking bureaucracy. And that's why the No. 1 recommendation listed by Shanahan on Wednesday was the creation of a permanent competition committee, a group that would include players, coaches, GMs and on-ice officials.
